The daughter who offered her life to save her mother.
She was born in Santiago, Chile, on April 5, 1891 and died in Argentina on January 22, 1904, at the age of only 13. Pope John Paul II beatified her on September 3, 1988.

Her father is a high-ranking military and political leader in Chile. A revolution overthrows the government and the Vicuña family has to flee, exiled 500 kilometers from the capital. There the father dies and the family is left in the missery. Laura is only two years old when she is father orphaned.

The mother, with her two daughters, Laura and Julia, embarks on a very long journey of eight months to the pampas of Argentina [not the pampas, but in the pre line of high mountains of the Andes: province of Neuquén]. There she meets a brutal and thuggish cattle rancher, and moved by her great misery, poor Mercedes goes to live with him in a free union. The man's name was Manuel Mora.

In 1900 Laura was sent to the school of the Salesian Sisters of Mary Help of Christians in Junín de los Andes.

There, in religion class, when she hears the teacher say that God dislikes very much those who live in a free union, without getting married, the girl faints with fright. In the next religion class, when the nun starts talking again about free unions, the girl begins to turn pale. The teacher changes the subject but consults the case with the sister superior of the school: "Why is it that Laura Vicuña gets so scared when we talk about the sin of living in a free union? The superior advised her: "Go back to the subject, and if you see that the girl gets scared, change the subject". So she does.

Little Laura has become aware of a very grave evil: her mother, the person she loves most in the world, after God and Our Lady, her mother Mercedes, is living in mortal sin and is in grave danger of eternal damnation. It is terrible!

And Laura makes a plan: she will offer her life to God, provided that her mother abandons the man with whom she lives in sin. She communicates the plan to her confessor, Father Crestanello, a Salesian. Crestanello told her: "Look, this is very serious. God may accept your proposal and you may die very soon". But the girl is determined to save her mother's soul at any cost, and offers her life to the Lord God as a sacrifice to save her own mother's soul.

At school she is admired by the other pupils as the best companion, the kindest and most helpful. The superiors were amazed at her obedience and the enormous love she felt for Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and for Mary Help of Christians.

On the day of her First Communion, she offers her life in sacrifice to Jesus, and when being admitted as a "Daughter of Mary", she consecrates her purity to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

She goes on vacation to her mother's home. Manuel Mora tries to disrespect her but she does not allow it. She prefers to be slapped and brutally whipped by him but does not admit any disrespect to her virtue. Manuel learns to respect her.

[On one occasion, because she refused to dance with him at a party, he forced her to sleep outside the house, in the open, where on summer nights it is very cold, and then he refused to pay for her school, but the nuns received, lodged and educated her free of charge].

In a great flood that invades the school, Laura, in order to save the lives of the little ones, spends long hours of the night in the very cold waters taking out girls in danger, and acquires a painful disease in the kidneys. God begins to accept the sacrifice she offered to save her mother's soul.

Laura begins to become pale and weaken. She feels great sadness when she hears from her superiors that they cannot accept her as a religious sister because her mother is living in concubinage [it is against the Law of God in the Bible, but we are not perfect, anyway she accepts all with humility and that adds more merit for her soul]. She continues to pray for her mother. She falls ill and has to be in bed. Intense pains. Continuous vomiting. She writhes in pain. Laura's life is ebbing away. "Lord: may I suffer all that seems good to You, but may my mother be converted and saved."

She is going into agony. The mother approaches. "Mother, for two years I have offered my life to God in sacrifice to obtain that you no longer live in free union. That you separate from that man and live a holy life. Mother: before I die will I have the joy that you repent, and ask God for forgiveness and begin to live holily?"

"Oh, my daughter! exclaims Doña Mercedes crying, "So I am the cause of your illness and your death? Woe to me! Oh Laurita, what great love you have had for me! I swear it to you right now. From today I will never live with that man again. God is witness of my promise. I am sorry. From today my life will change."

Laura asks for her confessor. "Father, my mother solemnly promises God to abandon that man today”. Mother and daughter embraced each other in tears.

From that moment on, Laura's face became serene and joyful. She feels that nothing can keep her on this earth. Divine Mercy has triumphed in the heart of her beloved mother. Her mission in this world is already accomplished. God calls her to Paradise.

She receives the Anointing of the Sick and her last Communion. She repeatedly kisses the crucifix. To her friend, who was praying at her dying bedside, she said: "How happy the soul feels at the hour of death when it loves Jesus Christ and Mary Most Holy!

She cast a last glance at the image in front of her bed and exclaimed: "Thank you Jesus, thank you Mary", and died sweetly. It was January 22, 1904. She was about to turn 13 years old.

Her mother had to change her name and leave that region in disguise in order to be free from the man who was persecuting her. And for the rest of her life she led a holy life.

Laura Vicuña has worked many miracles for those who ask her to pray for them before Our Lord. And Pope John Paul II declared her Blessed in 1988.
Lord Jesus: You who granted Laura Vicuña the grace to offer her life for the salvation of her own mother's soul, grant also to all of us the grace to obtain good works, the conversion and salvation of many sinners. Amen.

Having no one to turn to for support in Chile, and seeing the lack of job opportunities, the mother took her two girls and set out for the neighboring Republic of Argentina, to the town of Neuquén. It is important to consider that the mother is not an old woman either, but rather a young woman, so she is also presented as an example of overcoming, of looking for a way out of problems and not remaining in the pure contemplation of them, that would make life a continuous suffering with no way out. There was already in this child something that taught her to see beyond comforts and material goods: that showed her that in these things is not the most important thing in life, but that which is carried within and is found in other things and by other ways, precisely something of this element was missing in the person of that "benefactor".

The attendance to the regular classes, the support and the friendship that she found in that school, were decisive for Laura to form within herself, that spirit of Love for God above all things, which was combined at the same time with a great strength and courage that were growing until they became more important in the hard moments that would come later and that would soon lead her to death. It can be said that here she was learning to be more and more good, as was her own wish.

A VERY STRONG BLOW

Among the things the girls learned at the school, since it was a religious house, was that the family was highly valued and the girls were taught how a Christian family should be and live. I will fight, Lord, even if it costs me my life. My life for hers would be worth it..... There is no greater love than that which lays down its life for the beloved." In these lines we must draw out another important element, which we call a commitment to one's own family. It is something that can never be lost, and for which we must fight to maintain... it is necessary that we do not lose it, as it is the best way to give thanks for this gift that is called family: which are called parents [and precious little souls of brothers and venerable souls of grandparents, etc.]. That is the reason why Laura takes this purpose. It goes far beyond a pious attitude. Here we are not before a girl who seemed to make of her life a pure and permanent prayer; she also did this, and it was very important that she was so close to God, because otherwise her life would have been a pure suffering, without hope of change. [To pray and to make sacrifice (sth. that is hard to us) for our conversion and the conversion of our beloved is fruitful].But see that there is a concrete, real, sincere action, and this is what we are also invited to follow... to be visible witnesses of what we believe and to make it known without fear, since our faith, our convictions, have to give us the certainty that we have the truth in us, and that truth was also made concrete in Jesus Christ. Let's go back to Laura's life. As she goes to the farm on vacation, she realizes that her fears are true. She is unable to have a conversation with her mother, although deep down she would like to do so and tell her the whole truth now. Before entering, she receives another warning that confuses her even more: "You can pray wherever you want," says her mother, "but don't let Mora see you, because he will get angry. But she will not turn away from God. She makes her best efforts to find God in the things of every day, and offers as penances the bad moments, the problems, the contradictions and the doubts, she will NEVER ABANDON PRAYER.

She enjoys being good company for her friends, is interested in study subjects and in continuing to grow in faith. At the same time, her health is deteriorating, but only she knows it well. She also does not want to be a cause of concern for others. Between these situations, the school year ends. Laura's evaluations were always remarkable: she had received her first Communion and belonged to the Daughters of Mary. Another moment of contradiction arrives. On the one hand, she knows that returning to the farm means being with her mother, and at the same time suffering because of Manuel Mora's presence and his threat, who will not only go to her mother, but will also want to harm Laura. The blows, the mistreatment, the difficult moments do not make her doubt what she has learned and of which she is convinced. Her best friends will notice it, they will share with her the difficult moments, becoming also a great support.

The disease does not stop. Winter arrives with heavy rains and frosts [and the generous action of working to rescue her companions when there was a flood]. Laura wears herself out day by day, keeping intact her gentleness, her humility and at the same time, trying to maintain her strength. She consoles herself greatly in prayer, although she also knows that what is happening is what she herself had asked for: "her life, for her mother..." Mercedes decides to take her to the farm to take better care of her, but there is no noticeable improvement. She then takes her to Junín, also thinking that more medicines and doctors within reach.... but everything remains the same and she moves on. It is in this place where the last drop overflow the vase. Manuel Mora, arrives to where they were, and forcing his way in, demands to stay there too. Laura, in spite of her fever and weakness, firmly imposed herself so that this would not happen. In exchange she receives a beating, which will bring forward her death, but her objective is achieved. Against this background, she finally succeeds in making her mother realize what she has done all this time and decides to change her life. With this new confirmed, Laura Vicuña falls asleep definitively [not definitely, she passes from life in this world to the happy eternity she deserved thanks to her fidelity to the infinite merits of Jesus Christ and to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin.] on January 22, 1904. The pact has been fulfilled and God has heard it.

Thus unfolds the life of this child... these reasons are more than enough, to recognize that she is in a worthy place, on the way to sanctity.

Lord, our God, we praise You for the gifts of grace that You have infused in the soul of the adolescent Laura Vicuña.
Glorify this faithful daughter of Yours and grant that her journey of consistent faith, of intrepid purity, of heroism in filial love, may be for the young people of today an effective call to a commitment to Christian life.
Grant us the grace that we ask for through her intercession, and give to families peace and union, fruits of true love.

La hija que ofreció la vida por salvar a la madre.
Nació en Santiago de Chile, el 5 de abril de 1891 y murió en Argentina el 22 de enero de 1904, a la edad de sólo 13 años. El Papa Juan Pablo II la beatificó el 3 de septiembre de 1988.

Su padre es un alto militar y jefe político de Chile. Una revolución derroca al gobierno y la familia Vicuña tiene que salir huyendo, desterrados a 500 kilómetros de la capital. Allá muere el papá y la familia queda en la miseria. Laura tiene apenas dos años cuando queda huérfana de padre.
--
La mamá, con sus dos hijas, Laura y Julia, emprende un larguísimo viaje de ocho meses hacia las pampas de Argentina [no las pampas, sino en la precordillera de los Andes: Neuquén]. Allá encuentra un ganadero brutal y matón, y movida por su gran miseria, la pobre Mercedes se va a vivir con él en unión libre. El hombre se llamaba Manuel Mora.

En 1900 Laura es internada en el colegio de las Hermanas Salesianas de María Auxiliadora en el colegio de Junín de los Andes.

Allí, en clase de religión, al oír que la profesora dice que a Dios le disgustan mucho los que viven en unión libre, sin casarse, la niña cae desmayada de espanto. En la próxima clase de religión, cuando la religiosa empieza a hablar otra vez de unión libre, la niña empieza a palidecer. La profesora cambia de tema pero consulta el caso con la hermana directora del colegio: "¿Por qué será que Laura Vicuña se asusta tanto cuando se habla del pecado que es el vivir en unión libre?". La superiora le aconseja: "Vuelva a tratar de ese tema, y si ve que la niña se asusta, cambie de tema". Así lo hace.

Laurita se ha dado cuenta de un gravísimo mal: su madre, el ser que ella más ama en el mundo, después de Dios y la Virgen, su mamá Mercedes, vive en pecado mortal y está en grave peligro de condenación eterna. ¡Es terrible!

Y Laura hace un plan: ofrecerá su vida a Dios, con tal de que la mamá abandone a ese hombre con el cual vive en pecado. Comunica el plan al confesor, el Padre Crestanello, salesiano. Él le dice: "Mira que eso es muy serio. Dios puede aceptarte tu propuesta y te puede llegar la muerte muy pronto". Pero la niña está resuelta a salvar el alma de la mamá a cualquier costo, y ofrece su vida al Señor Dios, en sacrificio para salvar el alma de la propia madre.

En el colegio es admirada por las demás alumnas como la mejor compañera, la más amable y servicial. Las superioras se quedan maravilladas de su obediencia y del enorme amor que siente por Jesús Sacramentado y por María Auxiliadora.

El día de su primera comunión ofrece su vida en sacrificio a Jesús, y al ser admitida como "Hija de María", consagra su pureza a la Sma. Virgen María.

Va a pasar vacaciones a donde vive su madre. Manuel Mora trata de irrespetarla pero ella no lo permite. Prefiere ser abofeteada y azotada brutalmente por él pero no admite ningún irrespeto a su virtud. Manuel aprende a respetarla.

[En una ocasión, porque ella se negó a bailar con él en una fiesta, la obligó a dormir fuera de la casa, en la intemperie, donde en las noches de verano hace mucho frío, y luego se negó a pagar el colegio, pero las monjas la recibieron, hospedaron y educaron gratis.]

En una gran inundación que invade el colegio, Laura por salvar la vida de las más pequeñas, pasa largas horas de la noche entre las friísimas aguas sacando niñas en peligro, y adquiere una dolorosa enfermedad en los riñones. Dios empieza a aceptar el sacrificio que le ofreció por salvar el alma de su mamá.

Laura empieza a palidecer y a debilitarse. Siente enorme tristeza al oír de los superiores que no la podrán aceptar como religiosa porque su madre vive en concubinato. Sigue orando por ella. Cae a cama. Dolores intensísimos. Vómitos continuos. Se retuerce del dolor. La vida de Laura se está apagando. "Señor: que yo sufra todo lo que a Ti te parezca bien, pero que mi madre se convierta y se salve".

Va a entrar en agonía. La madre se acerca. "Mamá, desde hace dos años ofrecí mi vida a Dios en sacrificio para obtener que tú no vivas más en unión libre. Que te separes de ese hombre y vivas santamente. Mamá: ¿antes de morir tendré la alegría de que te arrepientas, y le pidas perdón a Dios y empieces a vivir santamente?”

"¡Ay hija mía! Exclama doña Mercedes llorando, ¿entonces yo soy la causa de tu enfermedad y de tu muerte? Pobre de mí ¡Oh Laurita, qué amor tan grande has tenido hacia mí! Te lo juro ahora mismo. Desde hoy ya nunca volveré a vivir con ese hombre. Dios es testigo de mi promesa. Estoy arrepentida. Desde hoy cambiará mi vida".

Laura manda llamar al Padre Confesor. "Padre, mi mamá promete solemnemente a Dios abandonar desde hoy mismo a aquel hombre". Madre e hija se abrazan llorando.

[Luego el sacerdote ayudará a la madre de Laura y a su hermanita a huir en secreto e instalarse en un lugar lejos de aquel hombre.]

Desde aquel momento el rostro de Laura se torna sereno y alegre. Siente que ya nada le retiene en esta tierra. La Divina Misericordia ha triunfado en el corazón de su amadísima madre. Su misión en este mundo ya está cumplida. Dios la llama al Paraíso.

Recibe la Unción de los enfermos y su última comunión. Besa repetidamente el crucifijo. A su amiga que reza junto a su lecho de moribunda le dice: ¡Que contenta se siente el alma a la hora de la muerte, cuando se ama a Jesucristo y a María Santísima!

Lanza una última mirada a la imagen que está frente a su cama y exclama: "Gracias Jesús, gracias María", y muere dulcemente. Era el 22 de enero de 1904. Iba a cumplir los 13 años.

La madre tuvo que cambiarse de nombre y salir disfrazada de aquella región para verse libre del hombre que la perseguía. Y el resto de su vida llevó una vida santa.

Laura Vicuña ha hecho muchos milagros a los que le piden que rece por ellos ante Nuestro Señor. Y el Papa Juan Pablo II la declaró Beata en 1988.
Señor Jesús: Tú que concediste a Laura Vicuña la gracia de ofrecer su vida por la salvación del alma de su propia madre, concédenos también a todos nosotros la gracia de obtener buenas obras, la conversión y salvación de muchos pecadores. Amén.

No teniendo a quien pedir apoyo en Chile, y viendo la falta de posibilidades de trabajo, la madre toma a sus dos niñas y emprende el viaje hacia la vecina República Argentina, al poblado de Neuquén. Hay que considerar que la mamá, tampoco es una mujer de edad, sino más bien joven, así también se presenta como un ejemplo de superación, de buscar salida a los problemas y no quedarse en la pura contemplación de estos, haciendo de la vida un continuo sufrimiento sin salida. La situación no cambia mucho el primer tiempo. Mercedes hace grandes esfuerzos para ganar un poco de dinero en forma honrada, apareciendo ante esto un primer rasgo característico de la pequeña Laura. La firmeza para enfrentar los momentos de necesidad, transformándose en el apoyo y consuelo de la madre y de su pequeña hermana, sumándose a esto la gratitud y el reconocimiento que en todo momento expresaba ante el esfuerzo que veía en la madre.

Fue en este momento cuando aparece la figura de Manuel Mora. Era dueño de un gran fundo ubicado en las afueras del pueblo de Junín de los Andes, en Argentina. Ocurrió que repentinamente, la madre y sus dos niñas se mudaron al fundo "Quilquihué", y pasaron de la necesidad a una completa comodidad, con todo lo que necesitaban... ropa, alimentos, buenas habitaciones, y sobre todo el sentirse acogidas como si verdaderamente estuvieran en algo propio. Las dos niñas, pudieron ser matriculadas en un colegio abierto hace poco en el pueblo de Junín, por los Religiosos Salesianos y las Hijas de María Auxiliadora.

A pesar de continuar demostrando su gratitud en todo lo que podía, Laura, con sus nueve años ya veía con algo de extrañeza lo que estaba ocurriendo con su madre y con ellas mismas y el cambio de vida tan repentino. Había ya en esa niña algo que el enseñaba a ver más allá de las comodidades y los bienes materiales: que le mostraba que en estas cosas no está lo más importante de la vida, sino aquello se lleva dentro y se encuentra en otras coas y por otros caminos, precisamente algo de este elemento faltaba en la persona del "bienhechor".

La asistencia a las clases regulares, el apoyo y la amistad que encontró en ese colegio, fueron determinantes para que Laura fuera formando dentro de si ese espíritu de Amor a Dios por sobre todas las cosas, que se combinaba al mismo tiempo con una gran fortaleza y valentía que fueron creciendo hasta hacerse más importantes en los duros momentos que vendrán después y que la llevarán pronto a la muerte. Se puede decir que aquí fue aprendiendo a ser cada vez más buena, tal cual era su propio deseo.

UN GOLPE MUY FUERTE
--
Dentro de las cosas que aprendían las niñas en el colegio, por tratarse de una casa religiosa, se valoraba mucho la familia y se enseñaba a las niñas, como debía ser y vivir una familia cristiana. Aprendió también que el verdadero sentido de una relación de pareja, está únicamente en el amor que puede existir entre ambos, y que no son válidos los motivos sociales, económicos, o cualquiera otra cosa externa [Aclaremos que una pareja de novios debe ser casta y una pareja de esposos debe tener por fin la santidad del cónyuge y criar niños para ser Santos, para gloria de Dios, y todos los seres humanos deben obedecer los 10 Mandamientos bien explicados, empezando por el Primero, que Dios sea lo más importante en sus vidas y familias, trabajo, etc.]. Dentro de estas reflexiones, sin embargo, vino una prueba muy fuerte, que Laura, desde su inocencia ya podía entender con mucha claridad. Pensando en lo que significaba la relación que se iba dando día a día entre su madre y Manuel Mora, descubrió aquello que nunca hubiera deseado conocer y que era al mismo tiempo, lo que tanto había aprendido en el colegio que se debía evitar al máximo, si se quería llegar a vivir como verdadero cristiano... SU MADRE ESTABA EN PECADO, CONVIVIENDO CON ESE HOMBRE. Es así, como superada la primera impresión, se muestra en la niña un propósito difícil y hermoso a la vez: " Debo devolver a mi madre; mostrarle el verdadero amor. Lucharé Señor, aunque me cueste a mí la vida. Mi vida por la suya, valdría la pena... No hay amor más grande que el que da su vida por la persona amada." En estas líneas debemos sacar otro elemento importante, que llamamos un compromiso con la propia familia. Es algo que nunca puede perderse, y por lo que debemos luchar para mantener... es necesario que no lo perdamos, ya que es la mejor manera de agradecer por este regalo que se llama familia: que se llaman padres [y preciosas almitas de hermanos y venerables almas de abuelos, etc.]. Ese es el motivo por el que Laura toma este propósito. Va mucho más allá de una actitud piadosa. Aquí no estamos ante una niña que pareciera hacer de su vida una pura y permanente oración; también hizo esto, y fue muy importante que estuviera así de cercana a Dios, porque sino su vida hubiera sido un puro sufrir, sin esperanza de cambio. [Rezar y hacer sacrificio por la conversión propia y la de los amados es fructífera] Pero detengámonos a ver que aquí hay una acción concreta, real, sincera, y esto es lo que también estamos invitados a seguir.. a ser testimonios visibles de lo que creemos y darlo a conocer sin temor, puesto que nuestra fe, nuestras convicciones tienen que darnos la seguridad que tenemos la verdad en nosotros, y esa verdad también se hizo concreta en Jesucristo. [El que escribió esto, claramente un judío infiltrado con buenas intenciones no se da cuenta que al final desvía a la gente del Camino de Dios, porque Jesucristo es El Camino, La Verdad y La Vida, Él es el Principio y el Fin, y que nuestra fe y nuestras convicciones las tenemos gracias a Jesucristo, el Hijo de Dios, que hizo la Nueva y definitiva Alianza sellada con Su Sangre.]

Volvamos a la vida de Laura. Al ir al fundo en vacaciones, va dándose cuenta de que sus temores son ciertos. No logra entablar una conversación con su madre, aunque en el fondo desearía hacerlo y decirle toda la verdad ya. Antes de entrar, recibe otra advertencia que la confunde más: "Podéis rezar donde quieras -dice la madre-, pero que no os vea Mora, porque se enfadaría" Ahora, hasta su relación con Dios, tan cercana y necesaria a la vez, parece tener trabas. Pero no se alejará de Él. Hace sus mayores esfuerzos por encontrarlo en las cosas de cada día, y ofrece como penitencias los malos momentos, los problemas, las contradicciones y las dudas, NUNCA ABANDONARÁ LA ORACIÓN.

Al volver al colegio, trae muy marcadas las cosas que ha visto. Sin embargo, no quiere que esto sea un problema para todas las personas que comparten con ella; sigue siendo muy servicial, dispuesta a ayudar a todos los trabajos que se le pidieran. Le gusta ser buena compañía para sus amigas, se interesa por las materias de estudio y por seguir creciendo en la fe. Al mismo tiempo, su salud se va deteriorando, pero solo ella lo sabe bien. Tampoco quiere ser motivo de preocupación para los demás. Entre estas situaciones, termina el año escolar. Las evaluaciones de Laura, son siempre notables: además ha recibido la primera comunión y pertenece a la compañía de las Hijas de María. Llega otro momento de contradicción. Por un lado, sabe que al volver al fundo significa estar con su madre, y al mismo tiempo sufrir por la presencia de Manuel Mora, y la amenaza de este, que ya no solo irá hacia la madre, sino también querrá dañar a Laura. Los golpes, los malos tratos, los momentos difíciles no la hacen dudar de aquello que ha aprendido y de lo cual está convencida... Sus mejores amigas lo notarán, compartirán con ella los momentos difíciles, transformándose también en un gran apoyo.

La enfermedad no se detiene. Llega el invierno con fuertes lluvias y heladas [y la acción generosa de trabajar rescatando a sus compañeras cuando hubo una riada]. Laura se desgasta día a día, manteniendo intacta su dulzura, su delicadeza, su humildad y al mismo tiempo, tratando de mantener también la fortaleza. Se consuela grandemente en la oración, aunque sabe también que lo que está ocurriendo es lo que ella misma había pedido "su vida, por su madre...". Mercedes, decide llevarla al fundo para atenderla mejor, pero tampoco hay mejoría notoria. La lleva luego a Junín, pensando también que más medicinas y doctores al alcance... todo sigue igual y avanza. Es en ese lugar donde cae la gota que derramó el vaso. Manuel Mora, llega hasta donde se encontraban, y entrando por la fuerza exige quedarse ahí también. Laura a pesar de la fiebre y la debilidad, se impone con firmeza para que esto no ocurra. Recibirá a cambio una golpiza, que adelantará su muerte, pero su objetivo se cumple. Ante este panorama, al fin logra que su madre se dé cuenta de lo que ha hecho todo este tiempo y decida cambiar su vida. Con esta noticia tranquilizadora. Laura Vicuña se duerme definitivamente [no definitivamente, pasa de la vida en este mundo a la feliz eternidad que mereció gracias a su fidelidad a los infinitos méritos de Jesucristo y a la intercesión de la Santísima Virgen] el 22 de enero de 1904. El pacto se ha cumplido y Dios lo ha escuchado.

Así se desarrolla la vida de esta niña... estos motivos son más que suficientes, para reconocer que se encuentra en un digno lugar, camino a la santidad.

Señor, Dios nuestro, te alabamos por los dones de gracia que has infundido en el alma de la adolescente Laura Vicuña.
Glorifica a esta fiel hija tuya y haz que su camino de fe coherente, de intrépida pureza, de heroísmo en el amor filial, sea para los jóvenes de hoy llamada eficaz a un compromiso de vida cristiana.
Concédenos la gracia que por su intercesión te pedimos, y da a las familias la paz y la unión, frutos del verdadero amor.

En otra parroquia cambiaron las imágenes del Via Crucis por unas especie de caricaturas donde los soldados no son romanos sino conquistadores españoles y a la Verónica la muestran llegando desde atrás con el velo en la mano y a Jesús girando su cabeza hacia atrás al verla, encima de esa estación debía haber una lámpara (que hace 20 años eran artística pero los gitanos que llegaron actuando como sacerdotes se las robaron y pusieron unas vulgares baratas, ahora ni ésas están) y en su lugar pusieron tres marcas como de sangre por arañazos, dos de color sangre y otra blanca.
