68. Death, Judgment, Paradise 1868

On April 5, I had a dream that made me very tired, so that at dawn I felt as tired as if I had worked all night, and I was restless and uneasy.
I dreamed that I had died and that I stood before the judgment of God to give Him an account of my words, actions and thoughts. Then I dreamed that I arrived in paradise and that I was very happy there. When I woke up, I lost the illusion that I was already enjoying myself in paradise, but the consolation came to me that I did not still have to present myself to give an account before the Tribunal of God and that I would have time to prepare myself better for a holy death. My purpose was henceforth to do everything possible to save my soul and to obtain the Eternal Paradise.
These things may be of no importance to those who hear them, but to me they were of great importance because they made me think seriously about what awaits me at the end of life.
The Holy Book recommends: "Think about what awaits you at the end of life, and so you will avoid many sins" (Eccles. 7:40).
The next dream is of greater interest to the listeners.

69. The dream of the vine 1868

Part 1: The vine that grows.
On April 9, it was Holy Thursday and as soon as I fell asleep, I began to dream. I saw that I was in the courtyard surrounded by many priests, clergy and students. Suddenly a vine or grape bush was born next to us, and it began to grow in an admirable way and to go up and up and up. It was filled with beautiful branches and each branch had large and tasty bunches of grapes. And it grew very quickly until it covered the whole schoolyard and several more hectares around it. And the admirable thing is that the branches extended without leaning on anything, forming an immense roof that covered us all. How beautiful were its leaves, how pleasant its clusters, how impressively beautiful the whole vine was! My classmates and I said enthusiastically: - But how did it manage to grow so quickly? From one moment to the next, all the grape berries turned into boys who fell into the courtyard and played happily under that immense vine. There were my disciples of now and those who will come in future times.

Part 2: The vine without fruit.
Suddenly the joy of the young people disappeared and the vine was covered with a great veil of mourning and all its fruits disappeared. A personage appeared to me and showed me a sign on which was written that sentence of the Gospel which says: "I have come to look for fruit and I do not find it" (Luke 13:6). This is what Jesus announced that the Lord will say when he comes year after year and does not find them. Jesus said he will add: "Take him away from here, why occupy a place uselessly" (S. Lk. 13:7).

I asked the person what that dark veil and that sign meant and he answered me: - Those are the ones who could do good and do not do it (the apostle James says: "He who can do good and does not do it, sins"). They are those who do good in order to be seen and to appear good to others (Jesus said of them: "They do everything to be seen and praised by people, and for this they have already received their reward on this earth"). They are those who, if they behave well, do it out of fear of punishment and scolding, and not to please God. They are those who fulfill their duties as if by force and not willingly and cheerfully.
I felt a great sadness to see in this group some who I thought were very good, sincere and of excellent will.
But the group that came next was much worse.
--
Part 3: The damaged fruits.

I was immediately presented with a new scene, more distressing than the previous one. I saw that among the branches of the vine there were many bunches of grapes that at first sight appeared stunted, rotten and full of mildew. Some were full of worms and insects that devoured them. Others were pecked by birds and wasps. Several were rotten and dry. No good fruit could be taken from them. And they all gave off an annoying stench.
From one moment to the next those bunches of grapes became young men, but they were no longer those cheerful, happy, beautiful boys I had seen at the beginning of the dream. They had an ugly, gloomy, sad face, covered with sores.
They were stooped and melancholy. None of them spoke. There were present disciples of mine, and disciples who would come in the future. All were ashamed and did not even dare to look up.
Frightened, I asked my guide why those who were once so happy and beautiful now appeared sad and ugly. He answered: "Those are the consequences of sin.
The young people began to parade in front of me and the guide said to me: - Watch them carefully.
I looked carefully and saw that some of them had their sin written on their foreheads or on their hands. I was terrified to see that some of them, whom I had imagined to be excellent people, had their souls stained with very serious faults.
--
On the foreheads of some was written: "Impurity". On the foreheads of others: "Scandal and bad example". On others: "Pride, vanity", "Anger, bad temper, rancor, spirit of revenge", disobedience, bad words, sins of the tongue, theft, gluttony....
The guide told me: "Recommend to them that if they want to get rid of these sins, they should frequent the sacraments of confession and communion. That they take care of their looks, that they flee from bad readings and bad conversations. Let them pray more and better. Study, work and prayer are three remedies that will keep them good.
--
Part 4: The good fruits.
A veil was drawn aside and a new scene appeared: a vine full of the most beautiful bunches of grapes. They were delightful to look at, and spread around them an exquisite fragrance. The clusters immediately became young, full of vigor, beauty and joy. They are disciples of mine now and disciples who will come in future times. Their faces were joyful and radiant with happiness. And the guide said to me: - These are those disciples of yours who in the present and in the future will succeed in practicing virtue and producing good fruits for Heaven.
And I was very happy to see them, but I also felt a certain sadness because they were not as many as I had wished them to be.
--
Part 5: The stinking grapes.

Then I saw another vine with huge branches and grapes so big that it took the strength of a man to carry a bunch of grapes. The grapes were very beautiful on the outside, but Father Cagliero wanted to taste one and immediately felt nauseous and had to spit several times saying: - This is poison. This is capable of killing a Christian.
Then a personage appeared and I asked him: - How do you understand that such beautiful grapes have such an unpleasant taste? He answered me and said: - Look carefully at each grape.
I approached and observed and on each grape I saw the name of one of my disciples, and next to their names I read with horror some of these signs: "Proud - unfaithful to his promises. Impure - hypocritical - Careless in his duties - Slandererous - Vindictive - Harsh in his dealings - Communicates in sin - Disobedient and rebellious - Scandalous, sets a bad example - Teaches improper things.
In front of the name of others I saw one of these signs written: "His God is his belly (he eats or drinks of gluttony). Science has made him proud. He seeks his own interests, and not those of Jesus Christ.
The personage took a stick and said: - We must beat that grape bush.
I answered him: - In the Gospel we read that the vinedresser asked for a year to take better care of the grape bush before it was punished (cf. Luke 13:8).
The personage said: - You are granted that term, but if they do not change, the punishment will come.
--
.
Part 6: The hailstorm.
From one moment to another those grapes that were so rotten became bigger and more disgusting and the guide shouted: - Look, God's punishment is coming! And then a horrendous storm broke out and the darkness of a thick cloud covered the vine. Thunder rumbled, lightning flashed and a dreadful hailstorm began to fall. Each hailstone was as large as a hen's egg. The hailstones were some black and some red and smelled horrible.
And I saw that each black hailstone had this word written on it: "Impurity" and each red hailstone had this other word engraved on it: "Pride".
And the guide explained to me: - Those are two sins that can do great harm to your disciples: impurity and pride.
The hailstones were mercilessly dethroning all the bunches of grapes and an unbearable smell was spread. I, full of disgust and fear, wanted to run away, and as I began to run... I woke up.
As you can see, this dream is very unpleasant and that is why I was thinking of not telling it, until that monster appeared to me and I heard the voice shouting at me: "Why don't you speak? Why don't you tell what you have seen in your dreams? But now I have to tell you another dream even more unpleasant and frightening than the previous ones. That will be tomorrow.
.

[In this dream  there is a sentence that is very repeated that I do not remenber having read it in the past: this are my students now ant the ones that will come in the future. What's more, I remember that every time I have read it, the dream gave me the impression that the different vines are different times in the work of the Saint. Remember that "impurity and pride" are the last things that God will tolerate. And now the antipope and the modern arrians that are invading the Church are introducing in the Church impurity and soon their satanist pride ]
