DUTIES OF SUPERIORS AND INFERIORS
LESSON 17 - Continued from the 4th commandment.
(Home made translation from La Moral Católica, Editorial Luis Vives, 1954, my notes in [ ])

198. Social groupings.- God created the first man with a sociable tendency and gave him a helper and companion, thus founding conjugal society, the basis of all others that were to be formed. The family, or group of parents and children, is called paternal-filial or domestic society. The relations of this one with its servants give place to the heril* society, [* no translation, I think they are talking about those children/adolescents that were given to wealthy families to be rised meanwhile they worked as servants/maids, here they stress the fact that they have rights] that can be equated to the employer society, formed by the relations between masters and servants, employers and workers, and, by extension, between teachers and disciples.
The civil society is the group of many families that live in perfect union under a common authority, for purposes of improvement and temporal welfare. For diverse purposes, States and Nations associate and form confederations or societies of States and Nations. The most perfect and universal is the religious society, formed by ecclesiastical superiors and the faithful.

199. Superiors.- We understand by superiors all those persons - men or women - who exercise some spiritual or temporal authority over others over whom they are in charge; such are teachers, masters, employeers, patrons, civil authorities, and ecclesiastical superiors. In the fourth commandment the duties of all of them are framed, and those of their respective subjects.
In human society each one must occupy his place: some are there to command and others to obey, some to teach and others to learn, some to guide and others to follow, and among all there must be union and mutual help, as we observe among the members of the same organic body.
200. Duties of the disciples.- The college and the school are a true extension of the family. The professor and the teacher take the place of the parents as far as instruction and education are concerned; therefore, disciples have the same duties of love, respect and obedience towards them as towards their parents.
They must love and esteem them in order to reciprocate in some way the interest of which they are the object on their part. Alexander the Great showed great esteem for his teacher when he said: "I owe more to Aristotle, my teacher, than to Philip, my father; for, if to the latter I owe existence and a kingdom, to the former I owe being a man and the art of governing well".
A former Hindu minister, a former student of the Jesuit College of Bombay, said: "I sincerely feel and believe that the little I can be worth, I owe it to the education received from teachers and counselors so good and so sincerely desirous of my good".
They should respect them as representatives of God and of their parents; listen to their advice and heed their reprimands, all of which are aimed at their better formation.
They owe them obedience, obeying with docility whatever indications their teachers give them.
It is also a very special duty of the student to work assiduously and with constancy, not only to have a career in his life, but also and above all, to correspond to the affection and sacrifices of his parents and to please God.
He must also fulfill special duties towards his companions.
The student who ridicules his teacher, who murmurs about him, who takes time to displease him and make him angry, who formally disobeys him, giving a bad example to others, who does not apply himself to his studies because of laziness or idleness, or who thinks only of passing the time and amusing himself, sins more or less seriously, according to his malice and the scandal he causes. The unconsciousness and thoughtlessness with which the student ordinarily acts, and often the lightness of the matter, absolve him of grave sin.

EXAMPLES
I. Gratitude: In 1948, a deputy of Gabon wrote: "To the Brothers of St. Gabriel I owe to be able, today, to work tirelessly for the aggrandizement of my country, the happiness of my compatriots, to be a happy father and a faithful and affectionate spouse. I would be very ungrateful if I did not think of thanking them for such precious favors."
Thousands of similar testimonies could be brought from former students of the Sons of St. Ignatius, St. Joseph Calasanz, St. John Bosco, St. John Baptist de la Salle, the Marist Brothers, the Marianists, etc.
II. Respect and obedience: Fenelon, who became Bishop of Cambrai, was in charge of the education of the Duke of Burgundy, grandson of Louis XIV and presumptive heir to the crown. One day, while answering to his naturally impetuous disciple, he heard him say: "Not that, Sire, not that; I know very well who I am and who you are".

Fenelon understood that this was not an opportune occasion and kept silent; but the next day he said to him: "I do not know, Sir, if you remember what you told me yesterday, that you knew who you are and who I am. It is my duty to teach you that you are ignorant of both. You have imagined that you are more than I am; some of your relatives, I don't doubt it, must have told you so; but I am more than you are. You will well understand that, here, it is not a question of birth. You would look upon a man as a fool if he would count like his own merit that the rain had fertilized his field without wetting that of his neighbor. In the same way you would not be more sensible if you were to be proud about your birth, which adds nothing to your personal merit. You will not doubt that I am superior to you in science and knowledge: you only know what I have taught you. And, regarding authority, you have none over me, and I have full authority over you..."
The young dolphin burst into tears, promising that henceforth his master would be pleased with him. And he kept it.
201. Practical advice (for you, young man).- the student must remind, in first place, that the ideal college or school is the home of science, work, prayer, charity and good fellowship, and, furthermore, that it is in his hands, in part, to give his college and his class an atmosphere of such satisfaction and moral well-being, that it is very far from being reminiscent of a prison or penitentiary.
[I emphasize: in the school there must be real science, hard study (nothing is learned in schools anymore, parents say nowadays), PRAYER (Our Lady of the Roses wants people to bring back the Our Father prayer to the schools of USA), charity (real good catechesis), and good fellowship (e.g.: good healthy games at recess)].
The school, the classroom, is the group of companions, of fellow students. If this environment is good, then piety, work, discipline and mutual charity will reign; but if it is bad, everything will go wrong or will leave much to be desired.
[This depends, in my experience, on the sanctity or not of the parish priest director of the school. From kindergarten to 3rd grade I went to a school that was a hell, the kids were banging their heads against the columns and the ambulance came very often. Some teachers were sadistic, in 3rd grade we learned absolutely nothing. From the parish priest to the principal and the teachers, they were false Christians (now they are satanists, as I showed you in the photos of the parish where I belong), not to mention most of the students. My parents changed me to another school because I had very strong abdominal pains, and the doctor asked mom what made me nervous, she said: the school. And that wise doctor didn't send me to “psychologists” (who are good when they treat parents, advising them 3 or 4 concrete changes) he simply told me to change schools. That new school was a little piece of Heaven, from 4th to 7th grade we entered every day in line to the Temple, singing, we genuflected before the Tabernacle and we sat in order, singing. When everyone was seated we would kneel and pray a ten of the Rosary slowly, beautifully. Then we would sit down singing and go out one by one in a row, singing. The same beautiful song every time and we never got bored of it and never did anyone talk or bother in those 4 years till 7 grade. The games in the yard were nice and pure and we were all like a family, the older girls were humble and played with the younger ones. Everything was beautiful. And we learned a lot and learned well in the classroom. A few months later, Father Juan Jarillo (R.I.P.) was replaced by another one who was more interested in collecting contributions to the raffle of the 0Km car for the buliding works of the school than in collecting Rosaries of students and faithful as the previous one did. The games changed, and even the gym uniform, we girls had to wear trousers now like the boys, I did not know anything but the impression in the soul was of tremendous sadness, and then in high school there was no more adoration to God before attending classes. The new teachers, it was better not to talk about them. The children rotted in primary and secondary school. An high school teacher that had been also in the good times said "each promotion is worse than the previous one". Someone realized that prayers (and catechesis) were missing, so for two weeks, lined up in the courtyard in the middle of winter at 7:35 a.m., an Our Father was prayed. The initiative did not last. Some time later some students stole the school computers and when I graduated, the gym sketch of my class (which only 6 girls out of 38 did) was a version of Cabaret, chair and fishnet stockings included, which the gym teacher made us practice in the nearby sport club, lest the parish priest noticed that and cancelled it. No good science was taught in high school anymore, except by the old teachers, some good teachers and employees had already been dismissed. I felt the 3 last years of high school as a waste of time and seeing that there was no light, the devil sent a vicar to the parish priest who seemed to be taken from the previous school. Now everything is rotten, 15 years ago I even saw that the uniform of the young girls is no longer the jumper so dignified and prudent, but girls wore a tube skirt and white shirt, like secretaries, that was: the little lambs burning stages, then we had lgtbi ideology at schools… Prayer and good catechesis are essential, if not, everything rots].
The duty of the scholar is to favor, as much as he can, the good spirit, to support the educational values. This is in his own interest, for by doing so, he collaborates actively and spontaneously in the ennobling work of educators, and helps to do positive work in education: an excellent way of exercising the apostolate of Catholic Action.
To spread this good spirit, he takes care to present himself always smiling and happy, serene, kind, helpful. He guesses the secret sorrows of his companions and knows how to find the right word to comfort and encourage them.
[Of course, he must have received good catechesis…., now it is impossible to find it at schools, parents must give it to their children]
The good student is a model of tenacity and, with his constancy in work, in piety, in charity, in discipline, he drags others along with him. With healthy and frank camaraderie he attracts true and unconditional friends for the rest of his life.
It is his duty to avoid whatever leads to sadness and discouragement (discontent, bad humor, backbiting, heated disputes, indifference...): whatever can hurt susceptibilities or injure the rights of others (slander, insults, bad jokes, etc.), and all that is harmful to piety and virtue (unkind words, bad examples, immoral conversations, etc.).
202. Duties of teachers.- Teachers, as substitutes for parents [for few hours daily that should be no more than 5 in primary school], assume, before God, the grave responsibility of educating and forming their students in a Christian manner, and to bring out of them honest and educated citizens, capable of duly fulfilling their social duties.
To achieve this, they must love them all equally, according to God, without partiality; instruct them intellectually, morally and religiously, giving preference to the most needy; watch over them prudently at all times; admonish and correct them lovingly and paternally, when necessary; and give them good example in everything. These duties arise from justice because of the virtual agreement that teachers have made with parents and society, and because of the salary they receive.
EXAMPLE.- Model for teachers and professors.- One morning in May, some students in the upper grade were writing a topic related to the Blessed Virgin. The teacher who presided over the exercise noticed that one of the students was bothering and hitting another. He approached him and asked: "What are you doing, aren't you ashamed to hit a classmate while you are all honoring the Blessed Virgin? In reply the boy made a contemptuous grimace, as if to say, "No, I am not ashamed." In a fit of anger, the teacher was about to slap him; but remembering his morning Communion, he restrained himself and withdrew to his seat. From there he noticed that the insolent man was laughing underneath and looking at his fellow students, as if to give them to understand that he didn’t care about the teacher. Then the teacher said to himself: "I have defeated myself, but he thinks he is the winner; this is not educational for anyone. What shall I do? He had a sudden inspiration. With serenity he called the wayward young man to come to his podium. Then he said to him with emotion and lively faith: "Listen, young man, you know where the Tabernacle of the parish is. You know that Jesus is there. Many times you have gone there with me to visit Him." -Yes, sir. -Well, I ask you please to go there now, kneel down before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, tell Him everything you have done at school, and don't come back until He answers you....." -Yes, sir; answered the boy frivolously. And he left like in a victorious cockerel; so much so that one of his companions dared to say: -Don Manuel, that one will not come back... - "He will come back. Let's go on with the composition..."
A quarter of an hour later, the unruly man returned, excited, trembling with the most respectful composure, as if he had just returned from Communion. He approached the professor. The latter received him with great kindness without ceasing to look at him in the face and, full of faith, asked him: "What did He say to you?
The boy, lowering his eyes and his voice, with an accent in which there was no room for deceit, answered: "He told me that you also forgive me...".
The teacher guessed the dialogue between the boy and Jesus, in which the latter said to him: "I forgive you, and now go and ask the teacher to forgive you too...".
The teacher, moved, pressed his head against his chest, saying: "Yes, I forgive you; and in the meantime some of the children felt tears pouring from their eyes. Since then, that young boy had an excellent behavior.
203.- Duties of servants.- Servants or maids are those persons who are at the service of a family, and become like a continuation of that group, and, for this reason, they are called domestics or relatives. Those who govern the family are the masters.
The servants and dependents must respect their masters even if they are not good Christians: "You servants, be submissive with all fear and respect to your masters, not only to those who are kind and gentle, but also to those who are rigorous or of hardened condition. (1st St. Peter, II, 18).
They must obey them in everything that concerns the agreed service; which is of rigorous justice. They can and must excuse themselves from obeying only if they are commanded something contrary to the will of God. The slave Saint Potamiaena preferred to suffer martyrdom rather than consent to the solicitations of her master to sin.
They must serve them with loyalty and fidelity, without causing them harm or allowing others to cause them harm; they must be discreet and reserved about the internal affairs of the family; they must use their time well and see that their work, in quality and quantity, gives a return corresponding to their salary. They sin more or less seriously, according to the matter, every time they fail in any of these duties.
"Servants: obey your temporal masters, not serving them only when they see you, as one who seeks only to please men, but with simplicity of heart and fear of God. Whatever you do, do it willingly, as one who serves God and not men, knowing that as a reward you will receive the inheritance of Heaven. In their person it is Christ our Lord whom you serve. He who does wrong will bear the wages of his unrighteousness, for in God there is no respect of persons" (Colossians 3:22-25).

[Respect of persons: “This term, rendered variously as "partiality," "favoritism," "respect of persons," "servile regard" and "snobbery" in James 2:1, means "the fault of one who, when responsible to give judgment, has respect to the position, rank, popularity, or circumstances of men, instead of their intrinsic conditions, preferring the rich and powerful to those who are not so . . ." (Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words).]

EXAMPLES. 1. Models of servants were: Eliecer whom Abraham sent to seek a wife for his son Isaac; Jacob, in the house of Laban; his son Joseph, in the house of Potiphar; St. Isidore, in the house of Juan de Vargas; St. Pascual Bailon, while in the service of Marin Garcia; St. Zita, who for fifty years was a servant of the Fatinelli family in Luca (Italy); St. Serapia, servant of the matron St. Sabina, whom she converted and prepared for martyrdom (August 29).
2. In Madrid, around 1930, the prize of virtue was awarded to a maid who, when her mistress impoverished, was supported by the maid’s work.
3. A good gentleman had the misfortune to find himself in jail for a debt he had contracted. His servants and maidservants wept at the sight of him, but one of them did something else; she presented herself to the mistress with her savings book in which was a sum of six thousand pesetas, which she had collected over many years, and handed it to her, saying: "Miss, keep this in case it is useful to the gentleman, so that he may be released from prison".
204- Obligations of the masters-. The masters, on their part, must treat their servants with charity and benevolence, as brothers and sisters, and as someone related to the family, since they collaborate in the welfare of the family. They should remunerate them for their work according to justice, in conformity with the norms of the Church; give them a good example; correct them with kindness, when it is appropriate, provide them with instruction when necessary, and excite them to the fulfillment of religious, family and patriotic duties.
"Masters," says St. Paul, "treat your servants according to justice and equity, thinking that you also have a Master in Heaven" (Colossians IV, 1). In Ecclesiasticus (XXXIII, 31) it is said to the master: "If you have a faithful servant, treat him as yourself, as your brother, because you bought him with the blood of your soul".
EXAMPLES: The centurion of Capernaum, being a Gentile, showed great affection for his sick servant, sending emissaries in search of Jesus to ask for the healing of the patient.
St. Jerome, writing to the matron Celancia, told her: "Rule your family in such a way that you seem more like a mother than a lady".
This is how St. Francis of Borja, Duke of Gandia, behaved with his own, whom he loved with a deep affection. He did not allow them any of the vices which were so ordinary in the houses of the lords, such as gambling, blasphemy, lying, etc. He obliged them to attend Mass daily, to pray the Rosary, to make an examination of conscience, to go to Confession at least on the principal Feasts....
"I do not want to have slaves or servants who serve me for wages, but children who are treated by me with full affection and benevolence", said St. Anthony Mary Claret.
A model of masters was the noble knight of Bologna and holy martyr of Christ, Agricola, who instructed his servant Vidal in the mysteries of religion, whom the Church also honors as a martyr, together with his master, on November 4.
205. Obligations of workers and employers: Workers or operators are those persons who, without being part of the family, work for the family - by means of a contract of agreement - for a determined or indefinite period of time. All those who have workers under their direction are called employers.
The obligations of the workers are similar to those of servants and domestics, but they are especially obliged to work with all diligence, not to cause any voluntary damage, either by working badly, or by spoiling the material or machinery; to avoid sabotage and seditious and illicit strikes, and not to associate with evil men who give them bad advice.
Employers should behave towards their workers as good masters; treat them justly as regards wages, taking into account the norms of the Supreme Pontiffs; and even with charity, as he would like to be treated, if he were in their place, not imposing on them works that exceeds their strength, age and sex, or that is detrimental to their health; to take care of their moral and spiritual welfare, giving them time to develop their instruction, especially religious instruction; to keep away scandalous and foul-mouthed persons, and to avoid work on Feast days when it is not necessary; and, in case of necessity, to see that they attend Mass; to help their workers charitably when they see them in need.
206. Duties of rulers: Rulers perform the office of fathers of the nation, a duty which they should not forget, for God established civil power for the common good, and therefore they are to exercise their authority only for this end and for the prosperity of the nation.
They must administer justice, protecting the life, property, liberty and honor of the citizens without respect of persons.

They must adjust the laws of the nation to those of God and of the Church [now we should say say: “…and of the Church according to the Holy Tradition], and to the spiritual good of the citizens, promoting the sources of wealth (agriculture, industry, commerce), attending to public instruction and education.
[In this country many imbeciles of the media, politicians, etc. always asked "which model should we have: agro-exporting or industrial?" Obviously, the two should not be opposed, I always took USA as an example. But neither the good teaching of the Church nor the morals taught by the Church were followed and what we have now is misery, because the enemies of the Church took control of her and of the State since the military coup and especially after it, since 1989. Europe: Our Lady of the Roses says that Satan always says "divide is to conquer". If you delegate the agrarian production to Latin America and we are only a farm. You and we will be slaves of the international commerce ruled by One world planners, and a little cold plandemic like Covid or a war etc., would leave the two continents in a very weak situation].
They must maintain public order defend people and their property, entrust public offices to adecuate and virtuous persons.
[Speechless]
They should maintain good relations between Church and State and see that perfect harmony reigns between both powers as a means of securing peace and the general welfare. The State must defend the rights of the Church and give protection to her so that she may fulfill her purpose better [We say “her” because Church is the Mystical Body of Jesus, the Church is His bride; all souls of Catholics, men and women, are brides of Jesus meanwhile they are in state of grace]. They must give aid to charitable, cultural and educational works; they must facilitate parents the work of instruction and education of their children, but not usurp their sacred rights.
Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's, Jesus said to the Pharisees and Herodians who came to Him to tempt Him (Saint Matthew XXII, 21).
With this sentence, the Divine Wisdom established the distinction between human and divine power; the State rules in the temporal sphere, the Church rules in spiritual matters, and in what concerns both domains there must be harmony between the two powers.
Religion will never be an obstacle to the prosperity of the State; on the contrary. There is no subject more faithful than the true Christian, for he does not forget that all power comes from God, and therefore respects the authority legitimately constituted, pays taxes faithfully and, if necessary, offers the homeland the tribute of his blood. But, if the temporal power demands from him things contrary to the law of God, he does not yield even in the face of persecutions, for he knows very well that one must obey God rather than men (Acts, V, 29). In this line, the thought of the First Apology of St. Justin is very eloquent.
[A few years ago I went to a store and, talking to the clerk, I made a comment about the nefarious president we had (situation that is very common here: nefarious presidents) and immediately he became circumspect, as if he had a higher law to fulfill and told me that he “had a friend” who never spoke badly of the president, he said that with a tone of someone who shared with me a kind of wisdom.... I was just saying the truth, not “talking bad about…” That's when I realized that they take presidents as kings, that you can't speak "bad" about them about according to the Old Testament. Once I read one of those people commenting that they should have sent the last presidents all to hell but that they had been fools because they put up with everything "for governability" and in Spain the socialists-communists-terrorists-separatists who are ruling (destroying crosses that are historical heritage, entering convents that are private property and forcibly removing monks from their house because they were celebrating a private mass among them in the terrace in Covid times, paying china for defective face covers more than the market price even when they bought great quantities.... ) those shits say that we have to keep voting for them "for stability" that is, they scare people with a "boogeyman" saying that if those corrupt people are not governing, there is no governability or stability, as if they were the democracy and there would be nothing else but them and their corruption [to achieve that they attack all truth: Religion, science, moral, tradition, rights…]. It turns out that the majority of the people did not want neither Menem here (in 1989) nor Sanchez in Spain (2018) nor Biden in USA (2020), but people accept/swallow that situation because their masters (synagogue of satan) commands them, they have their "king-presidents” who do whatever they want (in fact, what one world planners command), with most of media favoring their unjustice, and they think that what they want must be the law and in fact they are all placed in the governments by some nasty assholes that pretend to be “czars” (One world planners) whom only the synagogue of satan knows. But we are realizing now how corruption works. And they only serve the devil, who tried to reign through the Pharisees, who commanded laws contrary to the 4th commandment and taught to swear falsely and killed Jesus Christ for saying that he is the Son of God, being so, when Isaiah 9 already says that he will be called "Mighty God". Now the devil is in the hierarchy of the Church and Bergoglio teaches contrary to the New Testament, as the presidents and legislators, traitors, legislate contrary to most of the Constitutions in catholic countries and against law and justice. And the fact is that the synagogue of satan has been killing and changing us for clones and what is left of the population is mostly that: clones raised by perverted ones, without education or even a life, whom their system also kills and changes for more perverted clones. And the devil, in order to dominate them, teaches them to betray the 10 commandments but to fulfill the "do not speak evil of the king, nor with the seditious you join" Old Testament. But they do not teach them that THE FIRST KING IS GOD, Almighty! THE LAW OF GOD IS FIRST AND IS ABOVE ALL THE CREATION.
And to say the truth is not “to talk bad”. Catholics must try not to hurt feelings, but if they do not understand that they are attacking Faith, rights, lives, souls…, the first thing we have to do it is to speak out, clear and loud. Please: first protect yourselves and your household as Our Lady of the Roses teaches, if not you are changed by artificially aged clones.]
"Human society and religious society are two sisters, born in the same day, from the divine word; one looks to the time, the other to eternity; distinct by their dominion and by their end, they support each other, falling together; and together defying, by their common immortality, the hatred that persecutes them both" (Lacordaire).
Good harmony between the two ecclesiastical and civil powers is an effective guarantee of peace and prosperity in all orders of life. Just as the soul is nobler than the body, in the same way the spiritual power that takes care of the soul is nobler than the civil power which is in charge of the temporal welfare. That is why Pope Innocent III, when the two medieval powers united their forces, said very correctly: "The Kingdom of Christ, similar to the Sun, dominates the day of the spiritual world; and the earthly kingdom, similar to the Moon, dominates the night of the temporal".
EXAMPLES.- 1. King Jehoshaphat of Judah said to his magistrates distributed among the cities: "Take heed what you do; for it is not the judgment of man that you exercise, but of the Lord, Who is near you. Therefore, let the fear of the Lord be with you, and be careful to keep it, doing all things diligently: for in the Lord our Lord there is no unrighteousness, nor iniquity, nor respect of persons, nor covetousness of gifts" (Paralip., XIX, 6-7). [2 Chronicles 19:6-7]

2. The emperor Constantius Chlorus judged the fidelity of his Christian officers by their constancy in the faith. Wanting to test them, he ordered them to leave their jobs or renounce to Jesus Christ. Those who renounced their employment to keep their faith, were kept in their posts; but those who had no qualms about renouncing Jesus Christ to keep their employment, lost their faith and their employment, for Constantius said: He cannot be faithful to the emperor who is not faithful to God.
207. Duties of citizens: Citizens must respect in due proportion all their superiors and temporal or civil authorities legitimately constituted: kings, princes, heads of states, governors, magistrates, and other representatives of authority and their subordinates; but it is to be understood that this reverence is not due to the man but to the dignity he represents. They must obey them as long as what they command is just and in conformity with the laws of God and of the Church; they must remain faithful to them in spite of the abuses and faults they may commit, and submit to just laws, because they guarantee tranquility and welfare.
[An abuse would be, for example, the purchase of face masks in Spain (the socialist-communist government they have now), from China at a price higher than the market price, or spending more than 3 million 900 thousand euros in renovating the cafeteria service of the Congress of Deputies. But it is clear that when they make laws contrary to morality and law, when they govern betraying just laws, when their corruption leads to murder (e.g. saying for months that the measures against Covid were decided by a committee of experts and after tens of thousands of deaths with one of the worst managements in Europe, they said that the committee never existed) what we have to do is to rebel... but the synagogue of satan has already killed most us and perhaps we are, those who love justice, the true Catholics, a needle in a haystack].
" Be ye subject therefore to every human creature for God's sake: whether it be to the emperor as sobereign; or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of the good: for so is the will of God, that by doing well you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: as free, and not as making liberty a cloak for malice, but as the servants of God. Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Respect the emperor. (1st St. Peter, II, 13-17). Example of David, respecting the authority of Saul.
[It should be remembered that St. Peter was the one who said that God must be served before men, and he signed it by receiving, together with St. John, whippings from the Sanhedrin; there were Christians who served close to the Roman emperors, and when the latter realized what their faith was, they sent them to martyrdom.]
208. Duties to the native land.- Every good citizen loves his native land as a son loves his mother: it is a duty that reason imposes upon him. As a soldier he defends it with arms, if necessary; as a taxpayer he supports the public treasury; as a voter he appoints legislators; as a worker he cooperates in its wealth and prosperity; and as a believer he prays for it and for those who govern it, so that God may enlighten and bless them in the performance of their high functions.
Jesus Christ had an affectionate love for his homeland and was saddened at the thought of the misfortunes that would befall her: "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to you, how often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not! (Saint Luke, XIII, 34). He even shed tears for her, when in the midst of the triumphal reception on Palm Sunday, He contemplated her from Mount Olivet: "Ah, if thou also hadst known, at least on this day, the things that are to thy peace; but now they are hidden from thy eyes." (Saint Luke, XIX, 42). And in spite of so much ingratitude, crowned with monstrous deicide, when Jesus commanded the Apostles to preach throughout the world, He instructed them to begin in Jerusalem.
St. Paul, writing to the Romans (X, 1), said: "I have a special affection for Israel in my heart, and I earnestly pray to God for their salvation.
EXAMPLE: During the second Spanish Republic, on the occasion of the elections, there were shameful examples, but there was no shortage of edifying ones. When a pious lady in Madrid was frightened by the announcement of great outrages committed by the mobs against all those who dared to vote for the right wing, she gave this courageous answer: "Even if it costs me my life, even if I know that they will drag me to the ground, I will not fail to cast my vote in defense of my religion and my country.
209. Duties towards other nations.- Patriotic love, however great it may be, must not exclude other countries, since all men are brothers. Jesus Christ wants us to love even our enemies. A well understood nationalism banishes hatred and fratricidal rancor, since all nations and tribes belong to God. Our Lord Jesus Christ also gave us an example when He said to the Apostles: "Go and teach all nations" (Saint Matthew XXVIII, 19). And before that, speaking to the Jews, he said to them: "I have other sheep which are not of this fold, and I must bring them, and they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock and one shepherd" (St. John, X, 16).
[this book interspersed "Gentiles, pagans" after the word "flock" but we should not intersperse explanations between God's Words.]
The Church, faithfully following the spirit of her divine Founder, is supranational; all peoples are hers, but this does not prevent her from having her privileged ones. Generalissimo Franco himself understood this perfectly when he said: "Spain is divorced from the rulers of Russia, but it is associated with the Russian people".
Christian charity does not allow itself to be blinded by the defects of others; it also considers the good qualities of other peoples and seeks to banish hatreds, shorten distances and promote union and peace.
Justice demands that every State respects the rights of others, especially the small ones, and that it never uses force to take away their political or economic independence.
The very unity of mankind, which has come from the hands of God, demands this confraternity of countries and nations. We must, therefore, combat this exaggerated nationalistic egoism, the source of many wars and misfortunes. After the bloody wars of this century, it is most opportune that everyone should contribute more and more to confirming and affirming peace and charity among men.
With this same aim of union and universal pacification, His Holiness Pius XII desires that all Catholic Universities of the world agree in a great federation so that their rectors and professors and the delegates of those, celebrate at regular intervals, solemn meetings to discuss the business that would be most useful and conducive to promote their lofty purpose in common. The Pope also wants Catholic Action to have a sense of the international, corresponding to its appellation of "Catholic" which means "universal".
[Be careful with this, because the only flock will be made by Jesus Christ. There are many dictatorial wimps who serve the devil in fact, and become entrenched in any organization to distort it (Church, democracies, etc.) and make it subservient to Satan. For example, the Episcopal Conferences, which seem to rule over the authority of the bishops and are useful to the miserable infiltrators not to show their true faces and to cover their backs saying "the Episcopal Conference commands it". Even a miserable priest in a parish, in order to cancel the morning Mass, shrugged his shoulders and said "it was decided by the parish council". Besides, Pius XII would have done more good to the world by obeying the 2nd Secret of Fatima to consecrate Russia for its convertion so that there would be no persecution to the Church and no martyrdom to the good, than by asking for "solemn meetings to deal with business..."
Besides, that issue of making groups of laymen in the parishes to command over priests, and commissions of priests to command over bishops and bishops to command over the Pope is one of the directives of the devil for his “illuminati”, in point 23. The bug wanted John XXIII to accept those plans easily, it was not so, but it is horrible to see how he has managed to fulfill most of the points, of course, if he kills us and changes us for his delegates... but even so he will not succeed in destroying the Church. Obey Our Lady of the Roses, www.tldm.org].

EXAMPLE: After the 1950 retreat, the Salesian Fathers of Chofu (Tokyo) invited the Mayor of the city and the Chief of Police to a lunch with the community. At the end of the meal, the Mayor, alluding to the good harmony that reigned within that miniature "league of nations", said: "Here there are Italians and Spaniards, Germans, Belgians and French and men from all the countries of America. We had always been told that these peoples were traditionally enemies to each other, but here we see that you form a happy family. Please explain to the inhabitants of the city where the secret of this friendship between enemies lies".
210. Religious society: duties of its members.- The Catholic Church is a perfect society constituted by its Divine Founder as a kingdom with an elective monarchy. It consists, therefore, of governors and governed, of superiors and subjects who form, respectively, the teaching Church or gathering of Pastors (the Hierarchy, the clergy); and the teaching Church, which is the group of the faithful.
Bishops and Pastors are the true spiritual fathers of their flock. Diocesans and parishioners should love them, show them special respect and reverence, obey them in all spiritual matters, as if they were Jesus Christ Himself, and provide for their temporal subsistence, if necessary, according to St. Paul: "He who serves at the altar must live by the altar" (1 Cor., IX, 13).
Pastors of souls have grave obligations to their diocesans or parishioners and a great responsibility before God. They must edify the faithful by their piety, charity and purity of morals and lead them on the way to eternal salvation. To this end, they must instruct them in religious truths and duties, exhort them to virtue and good works, combat vices, scandals and abuses, administer the Sacraments, visit the sick and assist the dying.
