5. Antonio's illness. 1832

Although his halfbrother Antonio had treated him very badly and had made him suffer a lot, Juan prayed for him and was very fond of him and treated him with great respect.

One day he told his classmates: "Last night I dreamed that my halfbrother Antonio was kneading bread in Mrs. Damerino's house and that he had such a high fever that he had to leave his job and go to bed.

The other young people exclaimed: "Surely that must have happened, because Bosco's dreams always come true".

That afternoon his brother José came to visit him and the first thing Juan asked him was: "Is Antonio better now? José replied in admiration: "And how did you know he was sick? Yesterday afternoon Antonio was kneading bread at Mrs. Damerino's house and he came down with such a high fever that he had to leave his work and go to bed. But thank God he woke up today quite recovered".

Note: It is noteworthy that although in the first years Antonio treated little John Bosco very cruelly, later they were excellent friends and Juan educated Antonio's children for free when he died when he was still very young.

5. La enfermedad de Antonio 1832 (MB. 1,229)
Aunque su hermanastro Antonio lo había tratado muy mal y lo había hecho sufrir mucho, sin embargo Juan rezaba por él y le guardaba especial cariño y lo trataba con mucho respeto.

Un día les contó a sus compañeros de clase: – “Anoche me soñé que mi hermanastro Antonio estaba amasando pan en la casa de la Señora Damerino y que le llegó una fiebre tan alta que tuvo que dejar el oficio e irse a acostar”.

Los otros jóvenes exclamaron: – “Seguramente así debió de haber sucedido, porque los sueños de Bosco siempre se cumplen”.

Esa tarde vino a visitarlo su hermano José y lo primero que Juan le preguntó fue: – “¿Ya se mejoró Antonio?”. José admirado le respondió: “¿Y cómo supo que se había enfermado? Ayer tarde estaba Antonio amasando pan en la casa de la Señora Damerino y le vino una fiebre tal alta que tuvo que dejar el oficio e irse a acostar. Pero gracias a Dios ya hoy amaneció bastante repuesto”.

Nota: Es de notar que aunque en los primeros años Antonio trató muy cruelmente a Juanito Bosco, más tarde fueron excelentes amigos y Juan le educó gratuitamente los hijos a Antonio cuando éste murió siendo todavía muy joven.---
