54. The monsters and the youth, 1865
--
I was staying at the house of the Bishop of Cuneo and I had the following dream there: "It seemed to me that I was watching a great number of young people playing in the courtyard with enthusiastic animation. This made me very happy because when young people play with all their souls, then the devil has little occasion to attack them.
But suddenly there was a profound silence and a hideously ugly monster appeared at the gate, walking with his head lowered and as if preparing to attack.
Immediately many monsters appeared in the courtyard like the previous one but smaller, and the boys were cornered against the walls and many youths were left lying on the ground and as if dead.
Before that painful scene, I screamed so loudly that I woke up, and the Bishop and his relatives and his vicar also woke up, frightened by such a scream.
I believe that this monster is the devil or sin, and that his companions are temptations and the desire to do evil.
Against these enemies I advise you two remedies: communion well done and frequent visits to Jesus in the Holy Eucharist in the Temple.
Do you want the Lord to grant you many favors? Then visit Him frequently in the Temple. Do you want Him to grant you few favors? Then visit Him seldom. Do you want the devil to assail you? Then stop visiting Our Lord in the Temple. But do you want the spirit of evil to flee from you? Visit Jesus frequently in the Eucharist. The visit to the Blessed Sacrament is a very valuable and very necessary means to drive away and defeat the enemies of the soul.

55. The Magic Projector 1865
--
Narrated May 1, 1865: I dreamed that I was in a Temple very full of young people, but that very few came to communion. Next to the place where the people go to communion I saw a long black man, very black and very long, with horns on his head, and he was carrying in his hand a magic projector to distract those who came there.
To one he showed on the projector the playground full of games and made him contemplate his favorite sport; to others he showed there on the projector the house of their relatives and the vacation trips and the amusements they had had. To some he would remind them of the defeats they had suffered in sports and the victories they were likely to have in the future; to several he would show them on his projector the homework they had to do, the tests and exams that were coming up and the books they had to read. Others were presented with the snack they were going to eat later and the money they had to spend. And there were young people to whom he would present on his projector the sins of the past, and in this way he would stop them and not allow them to go to communion.
--
I believe that this dream means that the enemies of the soul do everything possible to distract each one of us when we are in the Temple and when we are praying, in order to rob us of the prizes that we were going to obtain by praying well and taking communion with fervor.
It is necessary to break the devil's projector, and not to be one of those dumbfounded people who stare at what he presents to them and thus do not pray or receive communion. It is necessary to look at the crucifix from time to time and think about what Jesus suffered for us and remember that leaving communion is the same as throwing oneself into the devil's arms.
