On September 2, 1868, he spoke to his students as follows: I dreamed that I entered the school porch and that I met Our Lady and that She handed me a notebook and said to me: "Here is written the way in which the young people make this novena.
I opened the notebook and saw written in gold letters the names of several young people. I turned to another page and saw the names of many more, but written in ink. I turned to the rest of the pages and there was no one else's name written there.

Those who had their name written in gold letters are the ones who do the novena with all fervor and behave very well.
Those who had their names written in ink are the ones who do it with less fervor. And those whose names were not written anywhere are those who do the novena badly, without fervor, without improving their behavior.
I asked myself: If Dominic Savio or Michael Magone came here now, what would they say? Perhaps they would exclaim: The young people have grown cold in fervor!
