90. Sins on the forehead, 1873

On the night of November 11, 1873, Don Bosco told his students about the following dream he had had on the night of November 8.
I dreamed that I was visiting the dormitories and that an unknown personage approached me and took me to the pupils and shone a flashlight on the forehead of each one and there their sins were read. All the sins of each one were written there.
Then he showed me a group of young people whose foreheads and faces were white as snow, because their souls were without sin. When I saw them, I felt a great joy. Later he showed me a young man who had black spots all over his face.
A little later I heard them singing the song for the deceased (Give them eternal rest, O Lord). I asked the person who had died? and he answered: "The young man with the black spots on his face died.
And when, when? He showed me an almanac sheet that said: December 5.
And I woke up.

91. Divine Mercy 1873

On November 29, 1873, Don Bosco narrated the following dream to his listeners: In recent days I had a frightful dream. I went to bed thinking about who was that personage who in the previous dream illuminated with a lantern the foreheads of those who are full of stains in their souls. Troubled by this idea I fell asleep.

Part 1: The luminous globe.
I began to dream that I was in an immense valley that had two small mountains, one on each side. I was accompanied by many young people.
Suddenly there appeared in the east a sun 30 times brighter than our noonday sun, and its light was so strong that we had to keep our heads and eyes turned towards the ground in order not to be dazzled.
That immense luminous globe had a sign above it that read: "God, for Whom all things are possible". Many young people, feeling that if they looked at that luminous globe, the pupils of their eyes might burn, fell to the ground and began to say: "Let us invoke the mercy of God". I also prostrated myself on the ground, with my face to the ground and said like them: "I implore the mercy of God".
And I noticed that some of the proud stood there, looking at the luminous globe as if defying the majesty of God, and their faces became as black as coal. And from the luminous globe came forth rays that left them fulminated and paralyzed, because they did not want to implore God's mercy like the others. And I saw with sadness that there are many who do not implore the mercy of Our Lord.
Part 2: The monster.
Then I saw a monster appear at the end of the valley, the ugliest and most deformed animal that the earth has ever seen.
And it came nearer and nearer to us. We were all filled with terror.
And at that moment the luminous globe placed itself in the middle between us and the monster, to prevent it from harming us.
And that sentence of Holy Scripture was heard in the heavens: "There can be no understanding between Christ and Satan, between the son of light and the sons of darkness" (2 Cor. 6:15). When I heard these words, I woke up.
I felt very consoled to see how great is the number of my disciples who implore the mercy of God, but I also felt a deep sadness when I saw that there are many proud and hard-hearted people who do not beg Our Lord for mercy, and who resist the appeals made to them by the grace of God to improve their behavior, and continue with their souls dead because of sin and with their spirits paralyzed by their wickedness.
I have already warned some of them not to abuse the mercy of God and not to be a cause of scandal and bad example for others.
And it is necessary that we all remember the phrase heard in the dream: "There can be no understanding between Christ and Satan, between the children of light and the children of darkness".
No collaboration with the wicked, if we do not want the monster that is sin to destroy us.
And let us not forget what the apostle James said: "God resists and rejects the proud, but to the humble he gives his grace and protection".
Note: This may be a message from Heaven to recommend that we implore much the mercy of God and that in order to be free from the monster that is sin, we pray much to the Divine Mercy of the Lord to protect us.
