PRAYER TO SAINT JOSEPH

Prescribed by His Holiness Leo XIII for after the public prayer of the Rosary, in October, indulgence for 7 years, at all other times, three years once a day.

We turn to you in our tribulation, blessed Joseph, and (after having implored the help of your Most Holy wife), we also confidently ask for your sponsorship. For the affection that united you to the Immaculate Virgin, Mother of God, and for the paternal love that you professed to the Child Jesus, we ask you to turn your eyes benign to the inheritance that Jesus Christ conquered with His blood, and to help us with your power in our needs.

Protect, most prudent Custodian of the divine Family, the chosen lineage of Jesus Christ; preserve us, Most Loving Father, from all contagion of error and corruption; be propitious and assist us from Heaven, O Most powerful Protector of ours!, in the battle that we now wage against the power of darkness; and just as you once delivered the Child Jesus from the danger of death, now defend the holy Church of God against all adversity.

Shelter each one of us with your perpetual sponsorship, so that by following your examples and sustained by your powerful aid, we may live holily, die piously and obtain the eternal happiness of Heaven. Amen.

ORACIÓN A SAN JOSÉ

Prescrita por S. S. León XIII para después del rezo público del Rosario, en Octubre, indulgencia de 7 años, en cualquier otro tiempo, tres años una vez por día.

A ti recurrimos en nuestra tribulación, bienaventurado José, y (después de haber implorado el auxilio de tu Santísima Esposa), solicitamos también confiadamente tu patrocinio. Por el afecto que te unió a la Virgen Inmaculada, Madre de Dios, y por el amor paternal que profesaste al Niño Jesús, te suplicamos que vuelvas benigno los ojos a la herencia que Jesucristo conquistó con Su Sangre, y que nos socorras con tu poder en nuestras necesidades.

Protege, prudentísimo Custodio de la divina Familia, al linaje escogido de Jesucristo; presérvanos, Padre amorosísimo, de todo contagio de error y corrupción; senos propicio y asístenos desde el Cielo, ¡oh poderosísimo Protector nuestro!, en el combate que al presente libramos contra el poder de las tinieblas; y del mismo modo que en otra ocasión libraste del peligro de la muerte al Niño Jesús, defiende ahora a la santa Iglesia de Dios contra toda adversidad.

Ampara a cada uno de nosotros con tu perpetuo patrocinio, a fin de que siguiendo tus ejemplos y sostenidos por tus poderosos auxilios, podamos vivir santamente, morir piadosamente y obtener la felicidad eterna del cielo. Amén.
